Sparking Innovation and Electrifying Business
Known for innovation, quality, and reliability, nVent is a $2.5B global electrical company whose products connect, protect, and consistently deliver value to industrial, commercial, residential, energy, and infrastructure projects. A holding company with three core business segments and 10 unique brands, nVent opted to migrate their brand sites to a unified Drupal platform after struggling with the costs and complexities associated with having their brands spread across disparate proprietary content management systems.
This was an exceptional example of a “One nVent” approach to a program and how we worked together. I’m so proud of this entire team!
What we did
nVent set out with Phase2 to consolidate the brands onto one digital content platform using Acquia’s Site Cloud Factory. This undertaking became known internally as the One nVent Initiative. The new platform, built on a single codebase, provides consistency in user and content editor experiences across each of their brands. It was also crucial to, in parallel, streamline nVent’s internal workflow processes, improve governance, and reduce operational expenses.
Under pressure after a failed attempt with another vendor, nVent looked to Phase2 to audit the work that had been done, conduct remediation, and begin progressive work on the incomplete platform. Together, nVent and Phase2 aimed to launch the first set of sites by March 2020.
Faced with tight deadlines due to expiring licensing agreements with legacy vendors, Phase2 and nVent labored tirelessly to prioritize business-specific tasks, worked through Acquia’s launch checklists, and completed development on time to launch the first three sites: Raychem, Pyrotenax, and Tracer - all part of nVent’s Thermal segment.
Key features of the new Thermal sites include:
- Modular frontend design system
- Improved Mobile theming
- Informatica Product 360 (PIM) integration
- Acquia DAM integration
- Dynamically generated content and pricing (by region/country)
- Enhanced search functionality PIM data import automation
- DAM Data cleanup and synchronization enhancements
Post-launch, we continue to build and enhance nVent’s multi-site platform. Working as a cross-functional team, we deliver expertise in migration and integration, platform architecture, platform management, UX, and development. Several more site migrations are in progress today. And with Phase2 as a strategic partner, nVent has turned a struggling digital initiative into a major business driver that enables cross-selling opportunities while saving nearly $500,000 in software licensing fees.
