14 new team members mark continued West Coast expansion for the firm
ALEXANDRIA, VA– (Marketwire – September 25, 2014) – Phase2, one of the most trusted digital agencies focused on open technology, today announced the opening of a new office in Portland, Oregon, as well as the expansion of its local team to include 14 developers and business professionals formerly employed by OpenSourcery. Both the new office location and additional employees reflect the firm’s commitment to developing a top talent team in the Portland open source community.
“We see enormous potential for growth in Portland, a city that is a hub of technical innovation and home to some of the most talented people working in open source,” said Jeff Walpole, Phase2’s CEO. “Phase2 had an extremely positive experience when we hired the SuperStar Media team in January, and I am confident our new arrangement with OpenSourcery will be equally advantageous to everyone involved. By bringing these 14 new colleagues aboard as we relocate to a larger space, Phase2 will continue to drive more value to our clients while enriching our own team.”
OpenSourcery, one of the largest and most experienced Drupal shops in the Pacific Northwest, closed its doors this fall. While several former employees, including Founder Brian Jamison, will pursue different ventures, many were eager to become permanent employees at Phase2.
“After ten wonderful and educational years running OpenSourcery, I am excited to begin a new chapter in my life,” said Brian Jamison, who founded OpenSourcery in 2004. “I’m thrilled that most of my team members at OpenSourcery have found a home at Phase2 where they will join an equally talented group of professionals serving great clients.”
“Phase2 and OpenSourcery have a long-standing relationship as active members of the open source community,” said Chris Strahl, Technology and Digital Media Practice Director at Phase2. “We know their team to be hard-working, immensely skilled and experienced, and well-matched with Phase2’s collaborative and fun culture. Their flexibility in fusing with our team demonstrates the mutual support and open-mindedness that characterizes so many open source organizations.”
This move corresponds with Phase2’s move to a larger office at 514 NW 11th Avenue. Since beginning operations in Portland in January, Phase2’s staff in the City of Roses has grown from one to 30, making it the company’s fastest growing office. The new location will serve as a workplace for Portland-based staff, a meeting space for local clients, and a home to various community tech events. Phase2 also has offices in Washington, DC, New York City, and San Francisco.
