Karen Taylor’s keys to success? Thinking like a manager, solving problems like an engineer, and documenting like an academic. As a Senior Experience Analyst, she is an expert at getting projects “from the page to the stage,” taking the fundamental needs of users and the requirements for a system and turning them into something that helps people find, use, and appreciate the information they need to accomplish a task. In essence, she structures the unstructured.
Once upon a time, Karen went to film school, where she (ironically) turned into a computer geek, thanks to an interactive videodisc project she did for her Master’s thesis. There was no turning back then: Karen has spent the last 12 years working on internet/intranet web sites and enterprise level business systems for a number of federal agencies. During that time she has developed a wide-ranging interdisciplinary skill set, including requirements development and management, information architecture, functional and systems design, UI design, and interaction design. She also has experience at several consultancies focusing on multimedia training and web application development.
In addition to her M.A. in Film and Video from The American University, Karen has a B.A. in Telecommunication with High Honor from Michigan State University. She works at Phase2 headquarters and lives in Washington, DC.
