We are so excited to learn that Phase2 and Inviqa won the Webby People's Voice Award for the work we did on the Arsenal Football Club Digital Experience in the 22nd Annual Webby Awards.

Arsenal Football Club is a London-based club that plays in the Premier League, the top flight of English football. The website not only provides a source of club information and news; it also directs fans to its various online retail stores and helps Arsenal to engage and acquire new partners.

With over 13,000 entries from all 50 U.S. states and 70+ countries—and 3 million votes cast by 700,000 people in the Webby People’s Voice Awards—the 22nd Annual Webby Awards is the biggest in the award’s history and we are simply thrilled to be a part of them! 

David Savage, core platform product manager, Arsenal Media Group & Arsenal Football Club, described the award win as a testament to ‘the work that’s gone into delivering a rich, engaging website that’s helping us to transform fan engagement’.

He added, "In time we’ll be delivering Arsenal content across devices and platforms that don’t even exist yet, but the power and flexibility of our content hub means that we’re suitably equipped to get content to fans how, where, and when they want it".

Arsenal Football Club digital experience project details and its sister sites were developed without mobile users in mind and, with a dated system in place for sharing new content, Arsenal was missing opportunities to improve fan engagement and create the exceptional experience they deserve. We partnered with Inviqa to create a new Drupal 8 platform that would allow Arsenal to exceed their fans expectations.

A highlight of the site is the revamped matchday experience which has a robust minute-by-minute commentary that allows editors to embed social media and images. The platform was designed for the future and is set up to enable the team at Arsenal to implement geo-targeting and personalization and gives them the ability to iterate quickly and add new features as needed.
