The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is a prestigious presidential memorial that fosters scholarship and dialogue in the humanities and social sciences. To accomplish their mission, the Wilson Center needed a robust platform that effectively promoted its programs, events, experts, and publications while also incorporating a multimedia aspect for its Dialogue TV & Radio programming on the site.
We moved the Wilson Center from their 10 year old ColdFusion platform to a Drupal 7 platform built on OpenPublic. To give visitors quickly accessibility to the Wilson Center's resources, Phase2 built a content navigator as one of the key features to improved search capabilities of the entire site.
OpenPublic is a highly flexible and customizable platform geared towards public policy organizations, such as the Wilson Center. To meet our clients needs for event promotion and management, we incorporated events functionality including RSVP features into the OpenPublic framework.
The platform also provides a Collections feature as a broader solution for rendering more complex program topics. Building upon the collections foundation, Phase2 enhanced this the concept to develop a mini-site feature for Wilson Center conferences sites that can be created with distinct properties, while still reaping the benefits of the architecture and search from the main WilsonCenter.org website.
