Samantha Warren

Senior Designer

Senior Designer Samantha Warren tends to immediately put clients at-ease when she meets with them to discuss creative strategy. Samantha balances her refined web design skills with genuine approachability whether she is creating mock-ups, distilling big-picture ideas distilling into representative graphics, or speaking at web design conferences worldwide.

“I’m truly passionate about using the web as a vehicle to tell compelling stories while creating accessible user experiences. And that I can work alongside such awesome people at Phase2 makes being a designer even cooler.”

Samantha is an advocate of designing for content, and has been featured in .net Magazine and at various industry events, including Design Day in Pittsburgh and the South By Southwest Interactive Festival in Austin. She also teaches web and graphic design classes at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University in Georgetown; is currently the Website Chair on the board of the Art Directors Club of Washington DC; and actively participates in many community organizations such as Refresh DC.

Prior to Phase2, Samantha created web designs for clients while working at digital firms including Viget Labs and Ogilvy. She earned her BFA from James Madison University.

Open Source Methodology Beyond Software

At Phase2, open source web development is a big part of our culture and our mindset. The idea of giving back to a community to support the greater good has a lot of potential, and it really energizes me as a designer. Last week the League of Movable Type, a community for Open Source Typography relaunched their website and with it came a lot of talk about giving things away for free, and it got me thinking about the potential of open zource as a concept in mainstream society.
