Semantic Web technology can help answer a question when you don’t know what to ask for. Often referred to as Web 3.0, the semantic web according to Tim Berners-Lee, "is a highly interconnected network of data that could be easily accessed and understood by any desktop or handheld machine."
If web2.0 is about people (being part of community and connecting to each other) then Web 3.0 is for machines and connections between data (for the benefit of people).
Adding Semantic flavor to your site involves adding machine-readable metadata to content that give relationships and meaning. It could involve tagging on the backend or the public site.
Phase2has been writing modules for Semantic Web engines and application for the past year, through our work with Thomson Reuter's Calais web service, the World Bank and Apture. We continue to spend time and energy becoming experts in this important technology.
