City's OpenPublic Site Prioritizes Info Access for Citizens

In the Town of Lake Clarke Shores, Florida, citizens no longer have to wait to access valuable information about their town hall meetings, thanks to a new web site powered by OpenPublic and built by the team at Big Couch Media Group. Seeing a need for not only a site makeover but an overhaul of the tools that community members needed most, John Studdard and the Big Couch team put OpenPublic to the test, utilizing the responsive design theme and maximizing the available tools for citizen engagement, while also building new functionality for the platform. I sat down with John this week to hear more about the build.

Ready for Drupal Camp Atlanta?

Session submissions come to a close on Friday for Drupal Camp Atlanta, and we're looking forward to one of our favorite Drupal Camps of the year. This year the format in Atlanta will be a one day Drupal Summit on Friday, September 30 followed by a one day Drupal Camp on Saturday, October 1.

Three Underrated Theme-related Drupal Modules

There's countless modules for Drupal that are underrated, but I wanted to call attention to three that I use regularly. These modules can make a big difference when building a theme, and while there's a learning curve associated with some (Color module, I'm looking at you), they're all worth the effort.

The Views2 Attachment Display

With Drupal5 and Views, theming was very straight forward: just add a specifically named function and there you go. Views2 changes all of that, and that is frustrating at first.

Theming Views in Drupal 6

Any reasonably complex Drupal website involves using Views for listing items and CCK for the creation of custom content types. Since each website has a unique look, a large part of creating a Drupal website is theming Views and nodes. Drupal theming has changed with Drupal 6 and so has the Views theming. Here is a quick introduction to the new theming approach in Drupal 6 and Views 2.
