 Case Study: PLAYERS INC Client Overview Founded by the NFLPA in 1994, PLAYERS INC creates and develops marketing opportunities for current and former NFL players. Representing over 1,800 active and 3,000 retired NFL players, PLAYERS INC "takes the helmets off the players," giving fans the opportunity to see the players' personalities and talents off the field. PLAYERS INC is involved in licensed merchandise programs, corporate sponsorships and promotions, special events, music and video recordings, as well as television, radio and Internet. PLAYERS INC schedules more than 2,500 NFL player appearances each year. Challenge PLAYERS INC required a system that would support the needs of the Licensing and Player Marketing departments, and perform the following functions: manage licensing agreements and individual marketing deals between players, PLAYERS INC, and licensing companies; track invoicing and payments between companies; and streamline the sales reporting process between PLAYERS INC and its licensees. The company's existing system included a client-server based system that failed to fully satisfy the Department's requirements, and included spreadsheet and word processing documents that were editable by only one person at a time. As the business needs of the Department evolved, the system structure was incapable of handling additional requirements. Subsequently, the system became inefficient at solving even the most basic tasks of its user base.  Solution
After careful analysis and business process validation, Phase2 worked with PLAYERS INC to design and develop a web-based workflow system that provides enhanced agreement management and payment tracking throughout the organization. The new system manages the submission and approval of sales reports via a secure web portal and integrates with the internal PLAYERS INC system.
